Sherry Reynolds's Bio:

Currently Sherry Reynolds is developing multiple new patient centered service lines for the 62 Office of National Coordinator - Regional Extension Centers - that serve 140,000 primary care providers (42% of all in the US). Sherry was the executive director of an innovative, non-profit healthcare organization and a nationally recognized eHealth strategy expert and thought leader and patient centered design consultant. She has over 15 years of experience in IT project management, health informatics and organizational development. In addition to standing up the National eHealth Collaborative for the Office of the National Coordinator she created the first position for a Consumer advocate at ONC and served on the advisory board for one of the national demonstration Beacon projects. She loves to start new co's and frequently mentors health care start-ups - most recently at the Microsoft/TechStars accelerator; is a frequent judge for health 2.0 events (Novartis, RWJF) and occasional guest speaker and panelist (Brookings, Stanford Medicine X) on innovation in health IT. Sherry also serves on the new HIMSS eConnecting Consumers Committee and has served the Puget Sound Health Alliance - where she is a founder member of both their consumer advisory group and Health IT Committee. Sherry was also the first non-hospital executive to sit on the Washington State Hospital Patient Safety Committee. She is the President elect for the HIMSS Washington board and founded their award winning advocacy program. She also served on the Advisory board for INHS Beacon Community - an ONC funded national demonstration project that integrates EHR's and case management for people living with diabetes and also served on an advisory committee for the WA/ID Regional Extension Center as well as the women's work-group for CCHIT. In her spare time she loves judging Health 2.0 events and mentoring start-ups and she frequently spends her weekends starting companies from scratch in 52 hours for fun.

The Kinect Accelerator is a Microsoft Accelerator powered by TechStars, leveraging the successful TechStars model and bringing a talented team to run this accelerator for Microsoft. Kinect is being used in creative new ways from applications in healthcare, education, the arts and more. We will be combining the ingenuity of these eleven startups, the best of the Kinect technology, other Microsoft technologies and the mentor driven TechStars approach to foster a new generation of businesses.

INHS Awarded $15.7 Million to Lead Collaborative Health IT "Beacon Community" The Beacon Community of the Inland Northwest (BCIN) enables meaningful use of health IT across 14 counties in eastern Washington and northern Idaho with a focus on prevention and improved management of diabetes. Led by INHS, the Beacon Community of the Inland Northwest (BCIN) is one of 15 communities across the country selected by the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services to serve as pilot communities for eventual wide-scale use of health information technology. Funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the agreement will allow the BCIN to focus on increased care coordination for patients with diabetes in rural areas and extend the existing INHS health information exchange through collaboration to provide a higher level of connectivity throughout the region

The Medicine X initiative is designed to explore the potential of social media and information technology to advance the practice of medicine, improve health, and empower patients to be active participants in their own care. I served as one of the founding ePatient scholars last year and presented this year on the systems approach of advocacy and patient centered design.
